A) BASIC
It is a new full-length foundation course in basic Chinese
for absolute beginners, or for those who have no knoeledge
or had learned a little Chinese but lack confidence
to read and write it. It provides a solid introduction
to the structure of the language. Major features
include:
~Hanyu pinyin - phonetics and pronounciation of Chinese
characters.
~Grammar syllabus - introduces simple grammar.
~Vocabulary syllabus - which focuses on key high-frequency
word reading, writing plus dictionary training.
~Conversation - giving students the skills to deal
with simple social settings.
~Exercise - revision on grammar, vocabulary and functions
in the text.
* The course will enable you to carry out minimal
activities of daily living. You should be able to
handle routine shopping, order a simple meal, ask
and give directions, deal with travel requirements,
tell the time, and be able to introduce yourself.
B) Intermediate
Follow on from basic. Learners at this level require
a different approach. The students begin to perceive
the systems that underlie the language. Major
features include:
In-depth treatment of grammar.
Systematic vocabulary syllabus.
Pronunciations integrated at appropriate points.
The four skills are developed in context.
At this level, it will enable you to interact with
people in routine social situations and for limited
work requirements. You should be able to engage in
superficial discussions on current events, talk about
yourself, your family and your work. You can handle
limited work requirements such as giving simple instructions
or simple explanations and descriptions. At Basic
Level, most of the things you could say had been specifically
prepared. By Intermediate Level you can speak extemporaneously
(although in a limited way) about many topics.
C) Higher Intermediate
Intermediate is for those who need to improve their
communication skills in Chinese, which takes a fresh
and constructive approach in the way the students
use the language.
The lessons are arranged to facilitate accumulative
learning.Students will have progressed from Basic,
Elementary, Intermediate to Higher Intermediate level,
and will be able to interact successfully in social
settings, writing documents and letters.
The course consists of broad communicative themes.
Students are encouraged to try out a broad range of
hands on communication activities, major features
include:
- Active grammar appendix coving other areas of grammar,
and exercises to practise them.
- Listening appendix, with tapescripts of listening
comprehension tasks.
- The four skills are developed systematically and
integrated through related tasks.
- Well-defined lexical syllabus with work on systems
such as collocation, binomials. Each lesson comprises
a text, which covers the main language points and
new words, grammar, phonetics and numerous exercises
including Chinese characters. Relevant information
on Chinese culture and society is also included.
D) Advance
This level will enable you to use the language fluently
and accurately with vocabulary that is always extensive
and precise enough to enable you to convey your exact
meaning. You can understand and participate in any
conversation with a high degree of fluency and precision
of vocabulary. Your speech is as effortless as your
mother tongue, and you are always easy to listen to.
Advance Level will enable you to speak Chinese with
sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to satisfy
normal social and work requirements. You can handle
professional discussions within a specialized field.
You can participate effectively in all general conversations,
and you can discuss topics of interest with reasonable
ease. Your vocabulary is broad enough so that you
rarely have to grope for a word and you use the language
well enough to establish close friendships.
E) Express Business
Business Chinese (Express) helps learner to develop
their communication skills in speech and writing.
Learner can conduct business in a Chinese language
environment. The emphasis is placed on the usage of
business terms in modern Chinese and on language proficiency
in a business context as well as on business related
social-cultural awareness.
Appendix in each lesson provide examples of business
documents in Chinese as well as other useful information
such as a Customs Declaration From, a Product Catalogue,
an Order Sheet, a Letter of Credit, a Letter of Intent,
a Contract and Common Chinese Signs etc. Some of them
are duplicates of the originals.
Our Practical Express Business Chinese has developed
40 lessons in all to introduce some typical business
activities and business-related social events in a
Chinese business world.
F) Advance Business
This programme is most suitable for business people
who intend to work in China and those who can speak
and understand Chinese but can not read and write.
Advance Business Chinese has developed 40 lessons
in all to introduce some typical business activities
and business-related social events in a Chinese business
world. Each of the 40 lessons contains the following
sections:
1. Dialogues
The dialogues in each lesson are set at various authentic
sites in China. The scenarios are intended to be typical
of those encountered by foreigners conducting business
in P. R. China. Authentic language of modern Chinese,
which occurs in realistic business contexts, is employed
to the greatest extent in order to provide the most
efficient examples for students to imitate and eventually
enhance their Chinese language proficiency.
2. Reading Passages
The reading passage in each lesson is a long essay,
in which the topic of the lesson will be further explored.
The passages are intended to sketch some general pictures
of cultural background in Chinese society and its
business world.
3. Exercises and Activities
Exercises and activities are designed to reinforce
newly introduced vocabulary and patterns as well as
to help learners to understand the content of the
dialogues and the passage in each lesson. Some questions
posed in this section require learners to do research
in business related topics by using various media
sources, including the internet, while some questions
are intended to lead learners into discussions of
cultural differences.
4. Appendix
There are 5000 new words and thousand sentence patterns
introduced in the lessons. Learners may attain an
professional level or even higher in Chinese.
